5th June 2017.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you all had a lovely half term break and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine!

The photographer will be coming in this Friday 9th June ad will be taking a group photograph first thing. If you wish your child to be photographed please ensure that you have signed up in the entrance hall. Please also ensure that you are here in good time if you wish your child to be in the group photograph.

This half term we are going to look at one of the areas of the EYFS “Understanding the World” Within this we will be exploring Mini Beasts, changing seasons, growing – as we (hopefully) harvest our potatoes and carrots and also occupations. As part of this we are looking forward to a delivery of caterpillars this week which the children will be able to watch transform into Painted Lady Butterflies.

We were unable to arrange a visit from the fire brigade last half term and so we are hoping that this will definitely happen this half term – emergencies permitting. We also have a taxi driver who will be bringing his cab along. Once again if you feel you could come and talk to the children about your occupation that would be wonderful -relevant to the theme or otherwise! If you would like to help or get involved in any way then do please speak to Teresa.

1,140 hours of childcare

You may be aware that the Government is rolling out its additional hours of childcare for working families from September. Guidance has recently been published by the Department of Education as to how this will work for providers and we are pleased to inform you that from September we will be able to offer 2 hours of our extended sessions as funded This however is NOT universal and parents will need to check their eligibility at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

If you are a single parent then you must working a minimum of 16 hours a week at or above the minimum wage. If you are in a partnership then both parents must be in work. There is also a cut off income of £100,000. Please feel free to speak to Teresa for more information.

Active Kids vouchers:

You are able to donate vouchers here until June 30th so please bring any stray vouchers along this month.

Milk Bottle Tops;

We are hoping to make a collage picture outside and would be very grateful for donations of the plastic lids from Supermarket milk bottles. In particular red, orange and blue ones as we already have a good supply of green! Many thanks

Summer events

May we remind you that the date for our Summer Show is Wednesday 19th July and that all families are invited.  Please bring your child along at 10:00 that morning then find your seat in the church where the show will commence at 10:15. Afterwards we will have our summer coffee and fundraising event. This year we will be showcasing the Pals Art Gallery where you will be able to purchase your childs unique piece of canvas art.

Our Teddy Bears Picnic will be on Friday 21st  July from 9:45 until 12:00. The children are invited to bring their teddy bear in for the morning.  Please provide your child (and their teddy!) with a packed lunch in a named container.  Parents do not need to stay for this event.

Please note that Thursday 20th July will be normal timings. During that morning the children will have a mini sports day with races etc in the hall.

Autumn Term:

Please note that ALL children who are returning in September are invited in on the first day of term – Monday 4th September for our “Welcome back” session.  This is a really good opportunity for those children returning to meet up again after the long summer break and familiarise themselves with the pre-school and one another before we begin to welcome our new starters!

We are always happy to arrange a time to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
