30th October 2017

Dear Parents and Carers

We hope you all enjoyed a break over half term and we are pleased to welcome you all back to the second half of the autumn term.

Theme:

Over the next two weeks the children will be creating some works of art inspired by bonfire night and the music from the royal fireworks. After that we will begin to shift our focus towards Christmas as the children begin to learn the songs for our nativity production this year and also work on some Christmas crafts. If you would like to get involved in any way then please speak to Teresa.

Christmas Dates for your diary:

Our Nativity and fund-raising morning will be on Wednesday 13th December. Please note that the children arrive at 10:00 that morning.  The nativity will commence at 10:15, after this we will have our fundraising and coffee morning. All the children are involved in this event and all parents, friends and family invited. Please note that a parent or carer must be present for your child during the morning. If you would like to help with the coffee and fundraising in any way then please speak to one of the staff. This year we will be running a toy tombola and would be very grateful for donations of any toys or childrens books you may no longer want at home.

The Christmas party will be held on Friday 15th December at 9:45 and we have booked an entertainer for this morning. The children will need a named packed lunch. Please note that we are a nut free zone and are unable to accept any lunches with nut products on the premises. The party will finish at 12.00 with a special visit from someone very festive

Extended Sessions:

Please note that there will be no extended sessions during the last week of term. The final extended session till therefore be on Thursday 7th December.

Parents Rota:

We have a parent’s rota on the notice board and once your child is settled you are very welcome to put your name on the rota and stay for a session (or even just an hour). You may be surprised at just how much we pack into a morning and we would love to see you

Winter Weather:

Should we have heavy snow this winter we may need to make a decision as to whether to open. In such circumstances please check the home page of the website where we will post a message to state whether we will be open or closed.

Childrens Birthdays:

When a child has a birthday we always celebrate their special day with all the children at circle time. We have recently had a lot of children with birthdays and as a result we have given out a lot of sweets at the end of our sessions.  As a setting we only provide healthy snacks during the morning and are very mindful of allergies and food intolerances amongst the children.  We would be very grateful therefore if you would not ask us to give out sweets or chocolate at the end of a session for your child’s birthday.

Home Share Sheets:

We like to celebrate the childrens achievements whether here or at home and would encourage you to share any small thing that your child may have achieved at home. If you would like to add something to your child’s record then please pick up a Home share sheet from our parents table in the entrance hall. Alternatively we have some cut out leaves and pine cones in a basket in the entrance hall. Fill one in and we will add it to our special achievement board in the hall.

Childrens clothing:

Please can you ensure that your child’s coat and jumpers/cardigans are labelled to ensure that we return items to the right child at the end of the session!

We would also be grateful if children do not wear wellington boots during the session.  You are very welcome to leave your childrens boots underneath their peg if they wear them to and fro the setting. Many thanks.

Primary School Admissions:

If your child was born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 then you are able to apply online now for their primary school place. Details are available on Bromley’s website together with details of school open days on their schools and colleges page. You will be able to amend and upload any documents right up to the close date of 15th January should you wish. Please note that as verification of your school application the Borough will require a letter from the Child Benefit Department regardless of whether you are eligible for receipt of this or not. We would strongly recommend that you apply for this now as the waiting time is up to 12 weeks.

Website Testimonials:

We hope that you all find the information on our website useful. We know that a lot of potential families use this as their first port of call when researching Pals and we are therefore always grateful for parents posting a testimonial on the website. If you would like to post a testimonial then please click on the testimonial link on the home page.

As always we are always happy to arrange a time to talk to you should you wish to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
