8th January 2018.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you have all had a good Christmas and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy New Year and to give our new children and their families a very warm welcome.

This half term we will be looking at “Weather” exploring a variety of weather types. Next week we are planning a trip to the Arctic in the role play area where we are hoping to create an igloo scene. Watch this space – let’s hope we don’t get snowed in!!

Later on this half term we will be completing our annual RSPB big school Birdwatch. This gives the children a wonderful opportunity to see the variety of birds on our doorstep here at Christ Church. If you would like to help or get involved in any of these activities then please speak to Teresa.

Our plans are usually uploaded onto our website on a Friday afternoon together with a little paragraph telling you some of the things the children have been up to during the week. Although we follow a theme we do also plan for the children on an individual basis, and as a result you will notice that our weekly plans are colour coded. This relates to our key worker system and to individual activities they plan for their key children.  There is a current list of designated key workers on the notice board.

If you lose a newsletter don’t worry because you can find all the newsletters from the past year on our website together with a calendar with key events marked and also term dates for this academic year.

All our policies are also available on the website together with a large amount of other information.

On our notice board we also have a parent’s rota and you are very welcome to put your name down to help out for a session. However we do suggest that you wait until your child is settled into the routine before you do this.

Winter Weather:

Should we have heavy snow this term we may need to make a decision as to whether to open. In such circumstances please check the home page of the website where we will post a message to state whether we will be open or closedChildren’s Clothing:

Please can you ensure that your child’s coat and jumpers/cardigans are labelled to ensure that we return items to the right child at the end of the session!

We would also be grateful if children do not wear wellington boots during the session.  You are very welcome to leave your childrens boots underneath their peg if they wear them to and fro the setting. Many thanks.

Child absences:

If your child is goingto be absent due to a family holiday or even a one day outing then please let us know. Once they are funded London Borough of Bromley stipulates that children are allowed no more than 3 weeks absence due to such events during any one term and for this reason you will need to fill in an absence sheet for any absences due to holiday etc. Should your child be absent for longer than 3 weeks then you will be liable to pay the full fees for the absence.

We are also required to keep a note of absences due to sickness and it is important therefore that you notify us if your child is going to be absent due to being unwell in any way. Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

Extended sessions:

These sessions are primarily for children who are off to school in September and run until 2:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. As well as learning to manage their lunch the children love exploring outside during the afternoon and towards the summer also get the opportunity to practice such skills as getting changed for P.E. the cost for this session is £9:80 and if you are eligible for extended entitlement funding then you can access 2 hours funding towards the cost of this session.

Primary School Applications:

The deadline for applications for Primary Schools for 3 and 4 year olds born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 is Monday 15th January and it is imperative that you send your applications in by this date. Please visit www.bromley.gov.uk and click on the central link marked “apply for it” on the home page.

Did you know that there is a Toddler Group (ABC) every Monday afternoon and Friday lunch time in the link. There is an after school club on Tuesdays and a Dads and Tots group on the last Saturday of every month – Dads come along and have a bacon buttie!
