19th February 2018.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you all had an enjoyable half term despite the cold weather and welcome you back to the second half of the spring term at Pals.

Our theme this half term is “Rhyming”:

Rhyming is an important foundation in early literacy – it is hard to learn phonics and sight words if you can’t discriminate sounds and rhyming patterns in an audible way and we therefore encourage listening and rhyming through day to day activities at Pals. This half term however, we are going to take a deeper look at rhyming using both Nursery rhymes and also some popular rhyming books starting off with “Each Peach, Pear Plum” by Alan Ahlberg.

World Book Day:

As part of our theme we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd March. The children are invited to come dressed as a favourite book character on those mornings for a donation of £1 which we will use to purchase some new story books for the children to explore and enjoy.

Arrivals and departures:

Please ensure that you arrive on time with your child in the morning as this enables us to start promptly with small groups and other activities. May we also ask you to ensure that you pick them up on time at the end of the session as this avoids children getting upset unnecessarily. If you have been delayed for any reason then do please let us know and we will ensure you’re your child knows that you are on your way.

September places:

If your child will still be with us in September and you wish to increase their days at all then please speak to Teresa in the next week or so.  We will soon be sending out our offers of places to new children for September and as we have a long waiting list we want to ensure that all existing children access which days they require. Many thanks

Term dates 2018-19

We are awaiting clarification of funding dates from the Local Authority and therefore are unable to publish our term dates for the next academic year at the moment. However, we can confirm that the autumn term will commence on Monday 3rd September. This morning will be a Welcome back morning for all children who are returning to Pals in the autumn term (regardless of whether they will normally be attending on a Monday or not). The autumn term will end on Friday 14th December

Parents leaflets:

We have a selection of parents leaflets in the racks on the parents table in the entrance hall. Do please feel free to  help yourself to these resources.

Testimonials:

Some parents have asked how they can leave a testimonial for Pals. You are able to do this by clicking on the testimonial link at the top of our home page on the website. If you would like to leave a testimonial then we would be very grateful as nearly all of our enquiries come either by recommendation or through the website. You are also able to leave a review on Google.

Outdoor clothes:

Please label your child’s COAT and BAG as it takes some time to work out which coat belongs to which child when the children have been outside

Summer Dates for your Diary:

Please save the date for our Summer Show which will be held in the church on Wednesday 18th July. Children arrive at 10:00 on this morning and parents stay for this event where the children showcase some of their P.E. activities and Circle Time songs.  More details to follow.

On Friday 20th July all children are invited to our Teddy Bears Picnic 9:45 -12:00 – again more details to follow.

Paper Appeal:

Do you know anyone who has access to paper which isn’t needed; for in an office or the print industry. We would be really grateful for any donations of such paper.

Parents Rota:

If you have ever wondered what the children get up to during the morning (it’s a lot!) then perhaps you would like to put your name on our parents rota which is on the notice board and help one morning.  We would just ask that you wait until your child is fully settled at Pals before putting your name down.

Data Protection:

Data Protection laws are changing and we would ask you to be patient with us over the next couple of months as we may need to ask you to reconfirm your permission on any date we need to hold.

Dads and Tots:

All Dads are welcome to the next Dads and Tots morning this coming Saturday 24th February in the link from 9:30 until 11:00. Why not come along to meet up with other Dads over a Bacon Butty while your children play.

“It Takes Two”

Christ Church is holding an event on Wednesday 7th March at 7:30 pm. It Takes Two is a relaxed event for any couple who want to invest a little more in their relationship. Tickets are available via the “Care for the Family website:

www.careforthefamily.org.uk and cost £4:00

May we remind you that we are always happy to arrange a time to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
