Dear Parents and Carers

We hope you all enjoyed a break over half term and we are pleased to welcome you all back to the second half of the autumn term.

Theme:

This week we will be thinking about Diwali before moving on to focus on bonfire night next week. After that we will begin to shift our focus towards Christmas as the children start to learn the songs for our nativity production this year and also work on some Christmas crafts. If you would like to get involved in any way then please speak to Teresa.

Christmas Dates for your diary:

Our Nativity and fund-raising morning will be on Wednesday 11th December. Please note that a carer or parent must be present for your child during the morning and that the children arrive at 10:00. The nativity will commence at 10:15, after which you are invited to stay for coffee and our fundraising . All the children are involved in this event and all parents, friends and family invited. This year we will be running a toy tombola and would therefore be very grateful for donations of any toys you may no longer want at home. We would also appreciate help in either ticketing up the items in advance or helping to man the stall on the day.

We will also have a cake stall for which we will invite donations nearer the time. Please keep an eye out on our notice board for sign up sheets.

The Christmas party will be held on Friday 13th December at 9:45 and we have booked an entertainer for this morning. ALL the children are invited to attend the party and will need a named packed lunch. Please note that we are a nut free zone and are unable to accept any lunches with nut products on the premises. The party will finish at 12.00 with a special visit from someone very festive

Extended Sessions:

Please note that there will be no extended sessions during the last week of term. The final extended session this termwill therefore be on Thursday 5th December.

Shoe Box appeal:

If you would be able to fill a shoebox with gifts to send to children in deprived areas of the world this Christmas, Christ Church are supporting "Operation Christmas Child" through the Samaritans Purse. Please take a leaflet with more information and instructions. Any completed shoe boxes should be brought in by 11th November at the latest. Many thanks

The Book People

We have signed up with The Book People Big Book Boost which enables us to collect points towards new books for Pals. If you use the Book People online then do please select Pals Christ Church for The Big Book Boost and we will receive £1 to spend on books for every £10 you spend.

Photographs:

Please may we haveany photograph orders you wish us to send off for you by this Friday 1st November, any online orders must be placed with Tempest by Sunday 3rd November. Any orders after this date would be subject to a delivery charge.

Parents Rota:

We have a parent’s rota on the notice board and once your child is settled you are very welcome to put your name on the rota and stay for a session (or even just an hour). You may be surprised at just how much we pack into a morning and we would love to see you

Childrens clothing:

Please be aware that we are outdoors most days and your child will therefore need a suitable outdoor coat for the colder weather. Please ensure that your child’s coat and jumpers/cardigans are labelled to enable us to return items to the right child at the end of the session!

As the weather is now changing we would be very grateful if the children attending the extended sessions could bring their wellington boots. Many thanks

Primary School Admissions:

If your child was born between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016 then you are able to apply online now for their primary school place. Details are available on Bromley’s website together with details of school open days on their schools and colleges page. You will be able to amend and upload any documents right up to the close date of 15th January should you wish. Please note that as verification of your school application the Borough will require a letter from the Child Benefit Department regardless of whether you are eligible for receipt of this or not. We would strongly recommend that you apply for this now as the waiting time is up to 12 weeks.

Website Testimonials:

We hope that you all find the information on our website useful. We know that a lot of potential families use this as their first port of call when researching Pals and we are therefore always grateful for parents posting a testimonial on the website. If you would like to post a testimonial then please click on the testimonial link on the home page. Parents often post a testimonial when their child leaves and we would therefore especially appreciate testimonials from parents of children who have more recently joined us.

As always we are always happy to arrange a time to talk to you should you wish to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have.
