In our pre-school:

·         We are committed to recruiting, appointing and employing staff in accordance with all relevant legislation and follow safer recruitment procedures.

·         We have at least one member of staff to each eight children aged 3 or over and 1 member of staff to every 4 children who are 2 years of age.

·         We have a staff induction period of half a term, when new members of staff and volunteers where appropriate are given support and training from existing staff members.

·         All staff and regular volunteers are required to undergo a police check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

·         No member of staff will be under the influence of alcohol or any other substance which could affect their ability to care for the children whilst working.

·         We have regular staff meetings which provide opportunities for staff to undertake in house training, curriculum planning and to discuss the children’s progress and any difficulties.

·         We work towards an equal opportunities employment policy seeking to offer job opportunities equally to both women and men, with and without disabilities, from all religious, social, ethnic and cultural groups.

·         Our pre-school leader and deputy both hold level 4 qualifications in early years and childcare. The majority of our staff hold relevant qualifications in childcare, all bar one of them are level 3 or above. 

·         Regular in-service training is available to all staff both through in house training and the Bromley Early Years Team.

·         All staff have job descriptions setting out their roles and responsibilities.
