Sun protection

At Pals we access the outside area most days and ask you to dress your child appropriately for playing outside.

When playing outside on sunny days we ask that all children wear sun hats and sun screen to protect them from the effect of the sun. We would ask you to apply sun cream before leaving your child in the morning, and to sign a form if you wish us to reapply this during the morning.

Children need an amount of sunshine in order to create vitamin D a vital component in avoiding conditions such as rickets, however over exposure to sunlight can be harmful and we therefore endeavour to position in the shade where possible.

If the children are involved in an activity in full sunlight then we ensure that they do not spend too long there, and that they are wearing their sun hats.
